Plant-based Peroxide-Maker Solugen Raises $4.4m Seed Round from Y Combinator, Joe Montana’s VC, others

A biomaterials startup using CRISPR gene-editing technology has raised $4.4 million in seed funding for its plant-based bio-peroxide technology. Solugen will use the funding to expand distribution of its bioperoxide and launch a consumer brand of household cleaning products. Investors in the round include Y CombinatorRefactor CapitalMITLiquid 2 Ventures and Social Capital Partnerships, among others.
